Welcome! We are a Southwestern Wisconsin family in the foundation stages of our program, one in which we plan to breed beautiful, well-tempered and health-tested chihuahuas. After many years of owning and loving the breed, it is an honor to finally contribute to the preservation of the chihuahua breed. We are actively showing our dogs in AKC conformation events, with litters being carefully planned for the future!
About Us
Bluff City Chihuahuas is a temperament and preservation-minded Chihuahua program located in Southwestern Wisconsin. Born from a lifelong love of Chihuahuas and named for the Mississippi River bluffs where our journey began, Bluff City Chihuahuas is a small program dedicated to preserving this remarkable little breed.
Our focus is on three things:

Preserving the AKC chihuahua breed standard

Ensuring the best possible health of our litters through DNA and health testing

Focusing heavily on temperament and early, extensive socialization and exposure
Our puppies will be raised underfoot in our home, surrounded by everyday family life, and thoughtfully matched with carefully selected homes.
This breed can bring SO much joy to the lives of their owners when they are confident, well-socialized and healthy. We know this from first hand experience after having chihuahuas for the past decade.
We are currently in the foundation stage of our program and do not have puppies available. Future litters will be thoughtfully planned only after all health clearances, genetic testing and breed standard goals are met.
Our Passion for Chihuahuas
My name is Sondra. My love of chihuahuas began when I became obsessed with the breed, researched them up and down, and purchased my own first chihuahua at 16-years-old. Now, 20+ years later, I have owned and loved many chihuahuas and have learned so much about them and their quirks. Showing, breeding and *sharing* this breed has been a dream of mine for many, many years.
My passion for chihuahuas is now a family passion! My husband, my three children, and even my mom, Kristi, have all joined me on this journey.
I want to change the "ankle-biter" stereotype that many have of chihuahuas, because they are so much more than that when bred correctly and socialized early. They are extremely loyal, charming and loving... a tiny dog with a BIG personality. Follow along with us if you see a very special puppy in your future!

Quinn is the chihuahua elder at almost 10-years-old but has the energy of a puppy. She is a sweet girl once she knows you and constantly asks for belly rubs. Quinn is very protective of her home and will sure let you know if someone is at the door, but out and about, she gets the butt-wiggles whenever a stranger approaches!
Quinn has never been shown or bred, but has brought much joy to our home as a pet!

Poppy is not only the smartest chihuahua we have ever known, she also has the most wonderful temperament. Poppy has earned her AKC STAR puppy certification and has been enjoying being in the show ring! She is working toward her champion title and we are so excited for her to be our foundation momma someday!

Styx is our newest addition and brings a lot of goofy, tail-wagging energy to the pack! He is also very smart and will learn anything you want him to learn as long as there is a treat involved. He is our biggest snuggler! Don't let that fool you though, he is becoming quite the rockstar in the show ring and is showing great promise. He is working toward his champion title.
